Yam Halves Topped with Maple-Cinnamon Pecan Glaze

Growing up in the South, we’d have candied yams with tons of butter and sugar, and then we’d put a little bit of cinnamon on top with pecans. As I went on my healthier journey, I still wanted a good old candied yam sometimes, but I realized I don’t need all that sugar. And so these yam halves came about as a sort of spin-off, a healthier alternative to the candied yams I grew up with. Mine are super simple, too. I just bake the yam, cut it in half, and top it with the things that we usually top candied yams with. I still get the same flavor, but it’s so much healthier. Plus, yams are already sweet! We got to let the yam be great on his own!
